Central Oregon Real Estate

Fishing in OregonCentral Oregon is a great mix of open space, bustling small cities, small country towns, and more. Each community in Central Oregon has its own flavor and benefits. And, there are a few astonishing common denominators that tie us all together: very, very friendly people; amazing weather; and breathtaking wild spaces and scenery.

Following is a brief description of the main communities of Central Oregon as well as links that can provide more information on each of these towns. And, feel free to call me with any questions you may have, whether it is concerns about schools, activities for seniors, available sporting events, whatever!

Redmond
Redmond, Oregon is a fast growing community of approximately 20,000. It is the gateway to all of Central Oregon as it hosts the regional airport. Redmond is a vibrant and evolving community with new schools, the county fairgrounds, and a revitalizing downtown. Additionally, world famous Eagle Crest resort is found in Redmond. Eagle Crest is home to three golf courses, horseback riding, excellent vacation home opportunities, and more. With perhaps the greatest variety of real estate options in Central Oregon (from inexpensive neighborhood homes to grand ranches), it is easy to see why Redmond is a destination of choice for homeowners and investors alike.

Located just north of Redmond is another popular residential and second home area, Crooked River Ranch. With some homes on acreage for under $200K in an area that hosts spectacular views and peace and quiet, Crooked River Ranch is a great place to consider living!

Bend / Sunriver / La Pine
Bend, Oregon is the cultural center of this area. With a boutique downtown, ski resort lodging all around, and a variety of college and university options, Bend attracts those seeking finer creature comfort amenities in a small town setting. With a population of approximately 75,000 Bend is also the region's largest city. Replete with great medical facilities, a rich arts following, and three of the finest microbreweries in the Northwest, we highly recommend Bend living for nature lovers also wanting cutting edge culture.

Two other towns near Bend worth taking a look at are Sunriver and La Pine. Sunriver is a resort community in the truest sense of the word. Primarily hosting upscale properties, vacation rental homes and condominiums, plus the classy Sunriver Resort, this region is close to world-class golf and Mt. Bachelor. A bit further south is the very affordable community of La Pine, which appropriately sits in pine forest. La Pine is an easy going place.

Prineville
Prineville is a quiet, handshake and wave community. Here, people know each other and share a common secret: Oregon small town life is nice. Very nice. Prineville is the Crook County seat and is home to two great recreation reservoirs. It is also open space country that is nestled in a beautiful valley with dramatic Home Under Constructionplateaus all around. For a true taste of Central Oregon western life we recommend visiting Prineville during the county fair. Prineville is growing fast yet is still a place where you can buy a secluded neighborhood home for less than $200K or a ten-acre ranch home for under $500K. As part of its growth, Prineville maintains its rich and rugged Oregon country heritage.

Sisters
Sisters, Oregon is one of the most popular destinations in the Northwest. Located near the base of the 10,000-foot tall Three Sisters Mountains and Wilderness, this hamlet of 5,000 or so is known for its hospitality and great feel. Sisters rebuilt itself as a western town, with downtown reminding many of life in the 1800s. Additionally, Sisters is home to some world class events, including the largest quilt show on earth (up to 20,000 attendees) the Sisters Rodeo, and the Starry Night Concert series that features famous talent performing for the benefit of the Sisters School District. This district is one of the most accomplished and community-supported in the United States. As for real estate, Sisters is known for its dramatic homes and vista properties that have allowed it to become one of the most sought after investment, retirement property and desirable residential areas in the world.

Father, Son, and Sunset in OregonMadras
Madras, Oregon is hitting its stride. A downtown revitalization program is under way. Recent Jefferson County (Madras is the county seat) legislation has declared select regions around Madras as ideal for resorts. Employment opportunities are rapidly growing due to, among other things, the near future building of a state of the art prison. And, property in Madras remains among the most affordable in the Northwest. Friendly, proud, and only one hour from Mt. Hood National Forest, Madras recognizes its value as a strong community and is building spirit as we write.

Powell Butte
Powell Butte, Oregon is the smallest in terms of population of the towns presented here, but maybe the largest in terms of ranch and open land real estate opportunities. With highly regarded "nine-peak views" and a history of ranch and farm lands, Powell Butte is shaping up to be a Central Oregon treasure in terms of resorts, amazing homes, and accessibility. In fact, Eagle Crest's sister resort, Brasada Ranch, recently sold out its first phase in less than three days. Other resorts in the area, including Pronghorn, are also under construction and selling lots. Only 10 minutes from the airport but a world away in terms of hustle and bustle, Powell Butte is presently home to a few hundred lucky souls and tons of space to roam.
